Why do I need a puffer jacket?

Puffer jackets are a popular piece of outdoor clothing for their incredible and effective warmth. They’re filled with either down (which is usually more expensive) or synthetic insulation which creates small pockets of air within the jacket (within each puffy panel). These air pockets trap and retain body heat, providing excellent insulation against cold temperatures. The puffer jacket’s quilted construction prevents the insulation from shifting or clumping together, which ensures consistent warmth, and longevity.
Many puffer jackets have a water-resistant or waterproof outer shell which helps repel moisture and snow. By keeping the outer layer dry, the insulation inside the jacket remains effective at retaining warmth. Many of our puffers are waterproof, whereas the thinner layers are designed to be water-resistant so they breathe a little better when worn as a layer.
Most layering puffer jackets are designed to be lightweight (unless they’re designed as outerwear) and compressible, making them suitable for layering and customising your warmth level based on the weather conditions. It also makes them great for travel and packing down into a zip lock bag or for pillow-shaped comfort en route.
